Steve Whiteley is an actor, comedian, writer and film maker with a propensity to write a very serious biography. With a background in performing improv, he launched his YouTube channel Offkey World in 2014, which was nominated for ‘Best Internet Programme’ at the British Comedy Awards (fancy). The sketches and music videos on the channel have been featured in numerous publications, including Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post, The Metro and more. His 2017 Edinburgh Fringe show ‘Wisebowm: The Struggle Is Real’, received 5 star reviews and was one of Scroobius Pips ‘Top 6 picks of the Fringe’. ‘Wisebowm’, Steve’s forthcoming BBC Radio 4 sitcom based on his deluded urban poet stand-up character, will be broadcast on August 15th at 11pm. The competitive world of poetry slamming in Edgware, North London, is the setting for his new musical comedy where one wrong iambic pentameter can result in instant elimination.
Steve’s debut short film ‘Swiped’, which he wrote, directed and starred in was recently nominated for the 2019 Edinburgh TV Festival New Voices Award for best pilot. ‘Swiped’ is also an official selection at numerous festivals including the Oscar & BAFTA qualifying Palm Springs Intl ShortFest, DC Shorts, Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival, Encounters and more.
Right OK that’s enough boasting for now, lets all just settle down shall we?
